4) Handout sheets, online forum & lifelong support for you and your dog
5) Qualified & experienced APDT tutor
6) Loads of fun!
For a taster, you can read what previous School for Dogs clients have said on the Testimonials page.
Every dog which ends up in rescue is the result of a failed dog-owner relationship. Besides helping you to train your dog, classes will also support your relationship with your dog: We help you to understand your dog’s behaviour as a communication, thereby reducing the misunderstandings between you.
Since an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure, it is advisable to bring your puppy to class as early as possible in her life. The best time to get in touch with me is before you have even brought your puppy home. Then I can help guide your puppy's social development with other dogs; together, we can nurture her psychological health and her attachment to you, preventing behavioural problems before you even see them.
You will find a range of online help available here, covering all sorts of common problems and issues. Once you have enrolled on a course, you will also be invited to join the School for Dogs online discussion forum - where further help is available.
I look forward to welcoming you and your dog to School for Dogs.
About Me

My name is Jo and I'm the tutor on all School for Dogs courses. I am a full member of the Association for Pet Dog Trainers (MAPDT 00996), and I abide by their code of ethics. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management (AdDipCBM) and CAP1 & CAP2 clicker training qualifications with Distinction. I’m committed to reward-based training methods and no positive punishment is used in my classes.
I have many years of experience running classes and have worked with hundreds of dogs and a wide range of different breeds. (Some of these breeds are listed on the Congratulations page.)
I own two dogs, a Weimaraner called Slate, and a Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer called Grey. Both work as gundogs on shoots and have successfully competed in field trials and gundog working tests. We have also dabbled in showing, agility, obedience and working trials. Once you are hooked on training, I can give you contacts to pursue any of these sports.
